EM 385 Training Facts

Being able to bid successfully for a Government contract is a huge plus. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee of obtaining the contract. While a contractor has to make an effort, it is imperative to have the required safety compliance certificate handy. Failing to provide the necessary safety measures at the site is likely to cost dearly, with the penalties reducing the profit margin substantially. No contractor wants to be in such a position and tries to undertake the required EM 385 training and complete the necessities well before bidding for a Government contract.

It is essential to be well informed about the facts as well as the challenges involved, however. The proper process to extend one’s knowledge about safety procedures and compliance would be to inquire about the following:-

EM 385-1-1: What is it?

A site-specific safety plan and regulations that had been formulated by the “U.S. Army Corps of Engineers". The safety and health-related parameters are detailed in this set of rules that construction workers and their contractors must follow while working for a military or Government project.

Taking the training is mandatory for the following individuals:-

· Military contractors, as well as contractors, engaged in working on projects of the Army Corps.

· Government employees, as well as Army personnel, required to comply with EM 385-1-1 safety standards

· Military personnel and Government employees hired to enforce the standards at designed work sites

To comply with the relations, the employees and contractors need to undergo a 16 hour or 2-hour training program. A more extensive program lasting 40 hours is mandatory for managers and supervisors to overlook the ongoing work at the site.

The “Site Safety Health Officers” have to take a refresher course of 8 hours every year to remain compliant with the regulations.

Topics Covered

Each course is formulated following the necessity. They are varied as Government and military projects happen to be diverse.

Approval

EM 385-1-1training program can be taken online. The concerned contractor or employee does not need to travel to another location, thereby losing precious hours to train or test. Most providers offer the certificate online as well. Sadly, no Government agency or the Federal Government officially approves the courses. The aspirants are welcome to check with the concerned Department and follow the guidelines for compliance with specific safety regulations. The certificate of completion can be downloaded from the web resource of “American Safety Council.”

Completion

The trainee does not have to complete the program at one stretch. It can be undertaken at leisure, preferably when one has time. The trainee has a year to complete each module of the training course.

Success

Each training course includes a final examination along with a short quiz at the end. The trainee is required to score at least 70% to receive the certificate.

Environment specialists also need to obtain the environmental specialist certification to protect the environment by safeguarding the natural resources and prevent violation of the surroundings.
